BC Housing is offering a 3-hour webinar on February 5, 2020 entitled Building Smart: Airtightness Testing – Diagnosis and Repair. This webinar covers diagnostic and remediation methods to aid in the successful completion of airtightness tests applicable to both Part 9 and Part 3 buildings.
What happens if your building doesn’t pass the airtightness test? What can you do to make sure it passes the first time?
Applicable to both Part 9 and Part 3 buildings, this webinar will discuss diagnostic methods in detail, such as infrared thermography and smoke tracer testing. Speakers will use these tools to compile an air leakage inventory.
Presenters will share remediation strategies and show how following a particular order of operation can prevent repairs. Concepts will be illustrated with case studies and an in depth discussion on mock-ups, mid-construction testing, common air leakage pathways, and a range of critical tie-ins and details that should be considered.
This webinar complements the Illustrated Guide to Achieving Airtight Buildings, authored by RDH Building Science Inc. and published in 2017 by BC Housing, with support from BC Hydro and the City of Vancouver.
