It’s no secret that our streets fail to address the mobility challenges faced by seniors. Pedestrian crossings, sidewalks, lighting, markings, and signage on every corner are designed for the agile and the confident – not our most vulnerable road users. The social problems with limiting senior mobility are obvious, but how do we address them? What does it mean to design streets for seniors? How does this happen?

The City of New Westminster has figured it out. Join us for a morning conversation to discuss the City’s recent experience with senior-focused infrastructure planning with Great Streets for Seniors: Uptown Neighbourhood Initiative. Download a copy of the final report here.

The session includes a brief tour of the Uptown neighbourhood to discuss Great Streets, the challenges, and the steps taken to go from Concept to Capital Plan.

Join the conversation with:

LISA LEBLANC
Transportation Manager, City of New Westminster

SANDRA JAMES
Director, Walk Metro Vancouver

DAN ROSS
Sr. Transportation Planner, Bunt & Associates
& Great Streets for Seniors Study Co-Project Manager

ALEX TACIUK
