The Women's Leadership Initiative (WLI) British Columbia is part of a global ULI network supporting and promoting the advancement of women in all disciplines of the real estate industry. WLI BC is proud to offer the Certificate Series of events which provides a unique skill-building series of workshops to forward our mandate in BC. This year, there will be three workshops focused on Development Partnerships offered as part of a WLI certificate program throughout 2022.

The first event in this exciting series will focus on building housing ‘for women by women’ – a partnership between Purpose Driven Development and Soroptimist International of Vancouver. Purpose Driven Development has partnered with Soroptimist International of Vancouver to provide 135 residential units for women of all ages in Vancouver.

Join us as we hear from Carla Guerrera (Founder & CEO of Purpose Driven Development & Planning) and Carla Busnardo (Redevelopment Committee Chair, Soroptimist International of Vancouver) as they discuss the project and how partnership and communication can effect a project’s outcome.

Here are a few links to some articles on the project:

    Speakers

    Carla Busnardo

Redevelopment Committee Chair, Soroptomist International of Vancouver

Carla has been a member of the global volunteer organization that improves the lives of women and girls, since 1991. Soroptimists are women at their best helping other women become their best. Chartered in 1921, Soroptimist International turns 100 this year and the Vancouver club will be 100 in 1926. In the early '30s, SI Vancouver offered affordable housing to women and over the years managed and then owned the housing. 546 West 13th has served the community since 1961 and the entire club is looking forward to serving more women with the increase of suites from 21 to 135. This project gives the Vancouver club an opportunity to celebrate and honour past members. They executed the purchase and building of the current complex in a time where women were not able to do what they did. SI Vancouver will leave a beautiful building as a legacy for all members as we plan to hold our meetings and events in the new building. As a retired CBSA officer, part owner of one of the oldest estate wineries in BC, owner of a wine shop in Vancouver and 30 years serving her community, Carla brings a small business sense and no fear attitude to the committee.
