    Bringing together leaders from across the central United States, the fourth annual Summit delivers three days of programming, tours, and professional development designed to connect ULI members and engaged citizens with best and next practices for equity in leadership and land use.

    Damon Hewlin

    METICULOUS Design + Architecture

    Partner Damon Hewlin leads METICULOUS Design and Architecture teams and projects designed for humanity. His 25 years of design, construction, and management includes award winning designs for large scale and high-profile projects. As a partner, Damon’s talents and abilities shape the firm's presence on the international design stage. Notable works include numerous projects in Abu Dhabi, UAE and here at home where Damon worked on the IUH Adult Academic Campus and the OrthoIndy YMCA in Indianapolis, as well as the MLK Dream Center in South Bend, Indiana, and the Tolson Community Center in Elkhart, Indiana. Prior to founding Meticulous design and architecture, Damon most recently worked with Armstrong, Schmidt Associates and US Architects. He graduated from Ball State University with a Bachelor of Science degrees in Architecture and science and environmental design.

    Co-Founder, Aspire House Indy / Aspire Higher Foundation

    Co-founder of the Aspire Higher Foundation (AHF), Sharon Clark is a social entrepreneur whose life goal is to use her love of design and commitment to community to rebuild declining neighborhoods. Sharon’s purpose as a leader is to bridge the unequal distribution of resources. Under her leadership over the last decade, AHF is working to rebuilding the fabric of the Northwest Landing neighborhood on the near Northwest side of Indianapolis, listening to neighbors’ stated needs for health, safety, learning, gathering, and beauty. The result is Aspire House, a three-story former firehouse built in 1897 that is now being transformed into a community center in the midst of a $1.2M capital campaig

    Hayat Brown

    Jenifer Boss, PMP, a Director in Hayat Brown's St. Louis, MO office, has 12+ years of public sector and advisory experience with local, state, federal, and higher education entities. She specializes in capturing value and delivering facilities through public-private partnerships. Ms. Boss leads the real estate program management office for Howard University and served as the project manager for Dartmouth College student housing initiatives, leading project scoping and development partner selection activities. She recently assisted Robert Morris University to assess occupancy options for their downtown campus and is currently advising Carlow University as it delivers a mixed use academic/commercial facility at the gateway to its campus. Ms. Boss has assisted the City of Falls Church, VA to commercialize of a 10-acre tract of land with education-friendly uses to offset the costs of constructing a new high school, including housing, a hotel, and retail uses. She also supported Travis County’s monetization project of the 308 Guadalupe site in downtown Austin and is currently supporting its Civil and Family Courts Facility project. Prior to Hayat Brown, Ms. Boss was a Senior Director in Alvarez & Marsal's P3-Real Estate-Infrastructure Advisory practice and before consulting, she served as the Director of Business Development for the District of Columbia, where she led business attraction and retention efforts by crafting and implementing economic strategic plans, conducting economic impact analyses, and devising public incentives arrangements. Ms. Boss earned a Master’s in Urban Planning from the University of Michigan and a BA in sociology and international studies from St. Xavier University. She also holds a graduate certificate in Real Estate Development from the University of Michigan.

    Amandula Anderson

    IFF

    Amandula Anderson is the Director of Real Estate Solutions for IFF in the Indiana market. Amandula has nearly 20 years-experience in the nonprofit sector where she has led two community-based organizations – Irvington Development Organization and United Northeast CDC; convened a Quality of Life initiative on the northeast side of Indianapolis; directed a program to facilitate a two-generational approach to supporting families within 5 Indianapolis communities; and spent a few years supporting affordable housing through a tax credit syndicator. She is a graduate of Arlington High School, received her BS in Public Affairs from IUPUI and received her Masters in Real Estate Development at University of Indianapolis. In her role at IFF, she is supporting schools and nonprofits in their desire to build/move/expand in spaces that meet the needs of their clients and brings dignity to all. Amandula enjoys spending time with her husband and five children/young adults. They like to watch movies, play video games, read and travel.

    Ciere Boatright

    CRG

    Ciere Boatright joined CRG in 2021 to help oversee planning and development of some of CRG’s high-impact real estate projects. Her work includes securing land entitlements and public and private financing, negotiating terms of agreements with government, engaging with community organizations, developing feasibility studies, and contributing to the full scope of CRG’s real estate development efforts. She works closely with the Chicago Business Unit of CRG’s parent company, Clayco, to advance real estate and construction opportunities and oversee the successful execution of its high-profile pursuits. Ciere collaborates with leadership teams to mentor and support aspiring commercial developers of color. She is also establishing a national CRG Cares philanthropic program in the numerous markets where CRG is active. Prior to joining CRG, Ciere served as the Vice President, Real Estate and Inclusion for Chicago Neighborhood Initiatives, Inc. Active in the civic space, Ciere is on the Chicago Community Land Trust Board and serves as a Commissioner for the Roseland Medical District. Ciere also serves on the executive board of ULI’s Women’s Leadership Initiative. She is a board member for Metropolitan Planning Council, a Landmarks Illinois Board member and Link Unlimited Board member. Ciere is a Leadership Greater Chicago Fellow and was recognized by Crain’s for the 2019 Notable Women in Commercial Real Estate, 2020 40 under 40, 2021 Notable Black Leaders and Executives, and 2022 Notable Executives of Color in Construction & Commercial Real Estate.

    Iasia Cheers is a Neighborhood Engagement Program Coordinator with Keep Indianapolis Beautiful. Iasia is passionate about addressing societal inequalities that often affect underserved residents within low-income and disadvantaged communities. Throughout her time at KIB, Iasia has embedded herself within key focus areas and connected with communities to perform inclusive and equity-minded community engagement. Currently, Iasia is looking to further develop community-facing programs such as advisory Committees and community-led town halls within key focus areas.

    Shauta Marsh

    Co-founder & Director of Programs and Exhibitions, Big Car Collaborative

    A social practice artist, curator, writer, author and researcher, Marsh’s work centers around artist-run culture, race and urban renewal through the lens of the arts, censorship in red states, popular culture’s influence on the pursuit of utopia, urban/rural relationships and artists’ social roles. She writes and produces the Social Alchemy radio programs on 99.1 WQRT LP-Indianapolis, creates public art projects and events via Big Car’s placemaking program, Spark and leads the APLR program. Working with artists who explore identity to bring about social change, she specializes in rapid response exhibitions. She has curated over 50 exhibits with artists including Carlos Rolón, Saya Woolfalk, LaToya Ruby Frazier, etc.

    Alex Jackiw

    Chief Operating Officer, Hayes Gibson Property Services

    Alexandra ‘Alex’ Jackiw is the Chief Operating Officer for Hayes Gibson Property Services, and in that capacity, she manages and oversees all corporate and property operations. Additionally, she is part of the leadership team which is responsible for the long-term growth and strategic direction of the company. Prior to HGPS, Alex worked at an executive leadership level for several privately-held regional companies as well as large publicly traded investment management firms. Alex is a respected industry speaker and has presented programs to industry trade groups throughout the U.S. and Canada. She is a licensed real estate broker and holds both the Certified Property Manager (CPM) and Certified Apartment Portfolio Supervisor (CAPS) designations.

    Kim Irwin

    Executive Director, Health by Design

    Kim Irwin has served as the Executive Director of Health by Design since 2008. Health by Design collaborates across sectors and disciplines to ensure communities in Indiana and beyond have neighborhoods, public spaces, and infrastructure that promote healthy, active living. Since 2019, Health by Design has also provided management services to the Indiana Public Health Association, which builds capacity among public health professionals and partners to achieve health equity and well-being for all across the state of Indiana. Ms. Irwin guides the strategic direction, partnership development and programmatic, operational, and financial management of both organizations. She has a Master of Public Health from the Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM) Department of Public Health and an undergraduate degree from Northwestern University. Her prior work experience includes health promotion activities and program and administrative management for the American Lung Association, the IUSM and in senior services. She is a member of the Governor's Public Health Commission and volunteers with the League of Women Voters of Indianapolis.

    Emily Krueger

    President & CEO, 16 Tech

    Emily Krueger is the President and CEO of 16 Tech Community Corporation, the non-profit which manages and oversees the 16 Tech Innovation District, a 50-acre mixed-use community in downtown Indianapolis dedicated to fostering innovation and economic opportunity. Krueger was the second full-time employee hired to activate the organization and served as its chief operating officer from 2018-2022. Prior to joining 16 Tech in 2018, Krueger served as Vice President of Administration for Indianapolis-based LDI, Ltd., one of Indiana’s largest private companies. As a member of the executive leadership team, Krueger helped evaluate acquisition opportunities and grow companies in a variety of industries and stages of development. Krueger, a native Hoosier, spent her early career working for former U.S. Senator Richard G. Lugar in a variety of Capitol Hill and campaign positions. An active community leader, she lends her fundraising and communications expertise to a number of local nonprofit organizations focused on health, education and the arts. Krueger is a graduate of Valparaiso University and the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, where she earned her MBA.

    Pamela Ross

    Vice President of Community Leadership & Equitable Initiatives, The Indianapolis Foundation

    Pamela was Central Indiana Community Foundation’s (CICF) first vice president of opportunity, equity and inclusion. She led the organization’s internal process of ensuring equitable policies and practices are operationalized and exemplified in all work of the foundation. As of January 2022, Pamela leads the Indianapolis Foundation’s community leadership initiatives and grantmaking work. She’s also responsible for leading many other projects and community initiatives that support increased equity, inclusive economic growth and anti-racism in Central Indiana. Pamela joined CICF September, 2016 as a community leadership officer and was promoted to a vice president position April, 2018. Pamela has her masters in social work from the University of Georgia with a concentration focused on community development and program evaluation. She has over 30 years of professional experience in the social services field, managing multiple programs dedicated to improving the lives of children and families. Pamela serves on multiple boards and committees focusing on disparities and the disruption of racist systems in multiple sectors. She frequently provides presentations, serves on panels of discussion and partners with many organizations delving into issues of race, equity and inclusiveness. She’s a native of Indianapolis but has lived in several other cities throughout the United States and abroad. She loves family, community and service.

    Brandon Powell

    Vice President of Business Development, Chatham Park Development, LLC

    Brandon Powell, a lifelong resident of Indianapolis, is a seasoned entrepreneur in the areas of business formation and execution primarily for trade based concerns. He has consulted and advised developers, custom home builders and general trade partners in the areas of land acquisition (general and OZ), master planning, building trends and science, funding, project management and design build streamlining. Brandon is the former President & Chief Servant at The Helpful Community of Businesses and a former Principal with Period Homes / Development. Prior, he worked for seven years as a franchise owner with N2 Publishing, aiding the company with going from ($8m ARR to over $120 ARR). Brandon has been a part of several VC and angel backed ventures in the roles of founder and investor. He remains rooted in growing the Indianapolis business community mainly in the areas of built structures and environments. Brandon holds a B.A. in Marketing from Butler University. With a deep love for building things and people, Brandon is a past board member of Art With a Heart and currently serves on the board of Elevate Indianapolis, Midtown Indy and is in the process of birthing the Keystone Monon Neighborhood Association. Brandon lives in Indianapolis with his wife and four kiddos.

    Travis Sheridan

    Wexford Science & Technology

    Travis serves as Wexford’s first Chief Community Officer and works hand-in-hand with Wexford’s university partners, civic leaders and community groups in the Knowledge Communities we develop. His primary role is to ensure that Wexford is building inclusive communities in each of our cities and to lead the overall community engagement strategy, identify new partners and initiatives to add to the knowledge community portfolio, develop funding mechanisms to increase opportunities for under-represented innovators, and strengthen the connections between the Knowledge Community and the geography in which it resides. Previously, Travis was President of the CIC Venture Café Global Institute (VCGI) where he was responsible for the growth and expansion of the organization. He was also the founding Executive Director of Venture Café St. Louis – the first expansion city outside of Cambridge located at the Wexford’s property, @4240. In his role, Travis propelled Venture Café St. Louis to be the largest weekly event gathering for innovators and entrepreneurs in the United States. Prior to launching Venture Café St. Louis, Travis was the Assistant Vice President of Innovation and Entrepreneurship for the St. Louis Economic Development Partnership where he ran an annual business plan competition, launched a biotech incubator, and managed a network of four additional business incubators. Travis is a community designer who uses innovation and entrepreneurship to drive community and economic development. He co-founded 59DaysOfCode and GlobalHack, two competitions that create community and build talent. At its height, GlobalHack was the world’s largest hackathon and attracted participants from around the globe. A frequent speaker, Travis honed his skills while doing standup for more than three years and is often called upon to speak on the topics of innovation, community design, economic development and leadership. Travis was appointed by St. Louis Mayor Lyda Krewson to serve on the board of directors of the St. Louis Economic Development Partnership; he is also a board member for the Laumeier Sculpture Park in St. Louis and St. Louis Public Radio. He received a bachelor’s in psychology with a minor in conflict resolution and peacemaking, a master’s in organizational behavior and has completed the coursework for a doctorate in organizational leadership.

    Since joining Midland Atlantic Properties in January of 2018, Jacque has focused on site selection for retail clients, the sale of single net leased investments and shopping centers, and development opportunities throughout Indiana. Prior to joining Midland Atlantic Properties, Jacque was Senior Director of Cushman & Wakefield for 9 years. With a comprehensive understanding of retail development, leasing and asset management as well as property acquisition and disposition, Jacque has created value for national and local developers, institutions, and private owners throughout her 30-year real estate career. She is actively involved in industry affiliations including ULI, CCIM, CREW, and ICSC. In her spare time you can find her either on the golf course with her husband of 20 years or in the “Art Room” with her grandchildren and three doodles.

    Carmen Thompson began her real estate career over 17 years ago as an associate for a publicly traded shopping center REIT, assisting in development, third-party construction management, and QPAM management for Pension Funds. Currently, Carmen conducts agency leasing for the retail division in Cushman & Wakefield. As a Senior Associate, Carmen focuses on Landlord and Tenant representation across the state of Indiana, securing over $20 million in transactions and leasing over 250,000 square feet since 2017.

    Storie Co.

    Trinity Hart is a cofounder and Chief Development & Product Officer of Storie Co. Starting her development career in affordable housing before focusing on market-rate mixed-use, she has led nearly $250 million of real estate development projects in both new construction and historic adaptive reuse and has secured over $35 million in local, state, and federal incentives. Trinity’s early career included fashion design, outdoor education, and working internationally. She received a Master of Science in Historic Preservation from Ball State University’s College of Architecture and Planning and completed Executive Education programs at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business. Trinity guides concept and design as well as the development and construction of projects at Storie Co.

    Devin Day

    Multi-Family Loan Portfolio Manager, Intend Indiana

    Devin has worked in community development in various roles for non-profit, private organizations, and government agencies in Indianapolis. He currently works for Intend Indiana as the Multi-family Loan Portfolio Manager. Devin is responsible for managing all multi-family housing lending activities including servicing and monitoring loan collateral coverage consistent with CDFI policies and industry standards during underwriting phase for annual monitoring and risk rating. Devin is a Hoosier native and graduated from Ball State University. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning and Development and a Master’s Degree in Urban and Regional Planning with a concentration in Community Development. Devin also holds a Rental Housing Development Finance Professional Certificate with the National Development Council (NDC) and is a recent graduate of the Urban Land Institute’s Real Estate Diversity Institute (REDI).

    Vop Osili

    President, Indianapolis City-County Council

    Vop Osili is President of the Indianapolis City-County Council, representing District 11, which covers a large portion of downtown Indianapolis and parts of the near west side, including the campus of IUPUI. Osili was elected President of City-County Council by a unanimous vote in 2018. He is currently Chairman of the Council’s Rules & Public Policy Committee and also serves on the Parks and Recreation Committee. Working with his fellow public servants on both sides of the aisle, President Osili is committed to addressing the important issues – equity, fair and affordable housing, homelessness, reentry, police/community engagement, inclusive urban development – impacting the daily lives of Indianapolis citizens. First elected to the Council in 2011, Osili has collaborated extensively with community groups, civic organizations and the business community on the expansion of work opportunities, skills-training and disadvantaged small business financing. He helped establish Indianapolis’ first city-funded microloan program targeting residents and businesses operating in neighborhoods with households well below area median income, and he continues to implement new initiatives to incentivize fair wages. Osili was a member of the Indiana Fire and Building Services Commission from 2001 to 2005 and Chairman of one of the Indianapolis Boards of Zoning Appeals from 2005 to 2008. He serves on a number of civic boards in the community, working at various times with organizations like the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis, the United Way of Central Indiana and the Children's Museum of Indianapolis. In 2010, he was the Democratic candidate for Indiana Secretary of State. With a background in architecture, Osili has led urban design and architecture projects throughout the United States, Africa and the Middle East. He was a founding partner of A2SO4, an Indianapolis-based architectural design company that was one of the first LEED-certified firms in the nation. He also served as a missionary to Haiti and other developing countries. Osili graduated from Carnegie-Mellon University with a bachelor's degree in architecture and earned a master's degree in architecture and urban design from Columbia University. He and his wife Una are the proud parents of two amazing children, Arinze and Tasia.

    Miriam Keller

    Senior Planner & Policy Strategist, Development Strategies, Development Strategies

    Miriam is a Senior Planner with Development Strategies, an interdisciplinary planning, real estate, and community development advisory firm based in St. Louis. Miriam manages a broad variety of projects at Development Strategies, including housing studies, land use strategies, and urban design plans—almost every project relates to issues of housing, housing affordability, and equitable urban development. She also helps to lead engagement strategies that involve community members, policymakers, city officials, nonprofit partners, and other key stakeholders in decision-making processes. Prior to joining Development Strategies, Miriam held a variety of positions in the public and nonprofit sectors, including at the Boston Planning and Development Agency, the City of St. Louis, the National Low Income Housing Coalition, and Washington University in St. Louis. Miriam holds a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from Washington University in St. Louis, and a Master in Public Policy and a Master of Urban Planning from Harvard University.

    I am an emerging affordable housing developer who has a strong passion for creating healthy communities through public-private and philanthropic partnerships. With a Bachelor of Arts in Cultural Anthropology and six years of public sector housing and community development experience, I bring an empathetic, holistic, and tenant-focused perspective to each unique project in which I participate. I believe that high-quality affordable housing can transform communities by providing opportunities for economic resiliency and growth. I am also the co-chair of ULI Indiana's Real Estate Diversity Initiative, a 15-week program for women and people of color who want to accelerate their careers in the real estate industry.

    Allie Rosenbarger serves as Executive Vice President of Development for KennMar where she is responsible for pipeline creation, execution of development projects, and market expansion. She brings a decade of experience in the commercial real estate industry. Her background includes mixed-use, multifamily, affordable housing projects, and land development. Prior to joining KennMar, Allie founded a development consulting firm focused on land origination, development management, property management, and obtaining creative financing for commercial real estate projects. She has a passion for working towards a development community that is reflective of the communities in which we live and build.

    Lourenzo Giple is the Deputy Director of Planning, Preservation, and Design for the Department of Metropolitan Development. Through his work, he oversees the visionary, long-term projects of city development, day-to-day planning, historic preservation, transportation planning, and urban design. Lourenzo has poured his time, energy, and heart into helping others feel more connected to people, places, and spaces in the city.

    Scarlett Andrews

    Director, Department of Metropolitan Development (DMD), City of Indianapolis

    Scarlett Andrews serves as the Director of the Department of Metropolitan Development (DMD) for the City of Indianapolis. Scarlett leads the Hogsett Administration’s downtown resiliency strategy, aimed at strengthening the urban core with a focus on economic development, public spaces, housing, and connected infrastructure. Scarlett has led negotiations of major real estate economic development transactions, including the City Market Campus, Elanco HQ, the sixth expansion of the Indiana Convention Center at Pan Am Plaza, affordable housing, mixed use office and commercial developments, and brownfield redevelopment projects. During the COVID-19 crisis, she had the privilege to work in the Office of the Mayor with civic organizations like the Indy Chamber, Visit Indy, the CIB and the Indianapolis Arts Council to launch small business recovery programs, including the Restart PPE grants, the HELP grant program, the Music Cities Strategy Recovery Program, and the COVID-19 Relief Fund for arts and cultural organizations. Scarlett moved to Indianapolis from New Orleans in 2015 and joined the mayor’s team as a project manager in 2017. Originally from Tennessee, Scarlett earned a BA in International Studies and Spanish from the University of Mississippi and holds an MA in Latin American Studies from Tulane University.

    Tammy Butler Robinson

    Tammy Butler Robinson serves as Chief Executive Officer for Emerging Solutions where she leads the firm’s strategy development. As Founding Partner, she successfully led and managed the company’s contact center business and co-managed the firm’s planning and community outreach sector. Previously, Tammy served the State of Indiana for more than a decade, Her various roles included fiscal analyst for the Indiana House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee. Her experience also includes work with Indiana University-Indianapolis, Forest Manor Community Development Corporation-Indianapolis, and the Martin Luther King Memorial Commission/Community Housing Development Organization in Anderson, Indiana. Tammy graduated with a Master of Urban and Regional Planning degree from Ball State University and a Bachelor of Arts in English/Cognate in Political Science from the University of South Carolina. Tammy’s passion for improving the lives of women and families in Indiana extends beyond her corporate life. She serves as pastor of The House of God Church in Indianapolis, leading a congregation whose members are among the most underserved and underrepresented populations in the state.

    Aryn Schounce

    Director of Government Affairs and Strategic Initiatives, City of Indianapolis

    Aryn Schounce is the Chief Policy Officer for both the Department of Metropolitan Development (DMD) and Business and Neighborhood Services (DBNS) with the City of Indianapolis. Prior to this role, she served DMD as the Principal Program Manager for Economic Recovery with a focus on the redevelopment of some of the city’s largest, former industrial sites including PR Mallory, Sherman Park, GM Stamping Plant, Carrier Bryant, and the Community Justice Campus. Schounce also serves as the Regional Economic Competitiveness Officer for the Build Back Better Central Indiana Initiative, leading the coalition’s efforts as a finalist for the Economic Development Administration’s marquee economic development program under the American Rescue Plan Act. The EDA’s Build Back Better Regional Challenge centers equity in economic development and the Central Indiana coalition is one of only 60 finalists nationally and the only finalist in Indiana. Schounce also leads efforts for the City around equitable code enforcement, key redevelopment projects, and policy development for both departments. In her spare time, Schounce enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and neighbors, especially in her beloved neighborhood of Garfield Park. Her interests include education policy, architecture, interior design, fashion, and the foodie scene.

With over 23 years of management experience, Akilah has managed nearly $2B in commercial construction projects located in Washington, DC, Virginia, Maryland, Indiana, Washington, and Arkansas.     Annie Xie is an associate in Ice Miller’s Real Estate Group where she assists clients in all areas of real estate law, including acquisitions and dispositions, development, leasing, and land use and zoning. Annie was born in Louisville, Kentucky and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. She graduated cum laude from Brigham Young University and received her Bachelor of Science in environmental science with double minors in philosophy and economics. In 2017, Annie graduated magna cum laude, Order of the Coif, from Indiana University Maurer School of Law. While in law school, she was editor-in-chief of the Indiana Law Journal and a member of Maurer’s Pace Law National Environmental Law Moot Court Competition team, which made quarterfinals in 2016.     Northside Community Housing

    Aaron Williams is a leader in the St. Louis area community development, design and construction industries, having worked in the area for 15 years. He focuses his community development work in The Ville, a historic Black neighborhood, and is co-founder and board chairman of 4theVille, a community-based cultural organization working to safeguard the legacy of The Ville and catalyze preservation through tourism, art and economic development. He also helps lead community housing developer Northside Community Housing, and the new advisory board of the neighborhood’s historic Black High School. Through his commitments, Aaron catalyzes innovative solutions for land use challenges in under-resourced communities that build coalitions between the public and private sectors. Aaron is chair of ULI St. Louis, a member of ULI’s national Public/Private Partnership product council, and recently completed a leadership position with ULI’s UrbanPlan curriculum update, which is expanding its workshops to address challenges around climate change and racial and social equity in the built environment. Understanding the importance of disrupting and rebuilding systems to empower marginalized communities like The Ville, Aaron is also a board member of Rebuilding Together St. Louis and a member of The City of St. Louis neighborhood Stabilization advisory committee. Aaron earned a degree in architecture from Washington University in St. Louis and professional certificates in project management, construction contract administration, and urban planning and zoning.
