    Spring into Speed Networking!

    Join ULI BC’s Young Leaders Group at our bi-annual Speed Networking gathering!

    At this exclusive event, you will meet a hand-selected group of acknowledged industry experts each with their own unique trajectories into the urban development industry. Join us to network, explore careers, and learn how accomplished professionals in their chosen field have navigated their own career paths.

    Participants will hear from all panelists before getting the exclusive opportunity to engage with each panelist in a ‘speed-networking’ format. The evening will conclude with an informal mix and mingle - light canapes and refreshments will be provided.

    And-Co will be providing curated tours of their newly established flexible, all inclusive workspace throughout the evening.

    Larry Blaschuk

    Registrar, BC Land Title & Survey

    Larry Blaschuk is Registrar of Land Titles at the Land Title and Survey Authority of BC (LTSA), responsible for ensuring the integrity of records in the land title register. Larry joined the LTSA in 2008 from private practice as a solicitor and as corporate counsel with one of BC’s leading registration service providers. He has extensive real estate and corporate/commercial practice experience serving both commercial and residential clients throughout his career. Outside of the LTSA, Larry is active in the community, coaching track and field since 2006 and attending the 2008, 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games and numerous World Athletics Championship with his athletes. Larry obtained his LL.B. / J.D. from the University of British Columbia.

    William Azaroff

    Chief Executive Officer , Brightside Community Homes Foundation

    William is the CEO of Brightside Community Homes Foundation, an organization dedicated to making housing accessible for those who struggle to meet the demands of market housing in Vancouver. His book, Everything I Learned About Leadership I Learned From Filmmaking, focuses on leadership lessons gained from the dozen years he spent as an independent filmmaker. William was a long-time executive at Vancity, performing many senior leadership roles at the credit union, and is currently Vice-Chair on the board of the BC Non-Profit Housing Association, and is former chair of Modo and the Vancity Community Foundation.

    Geoff Deacon

    Director, Axiom Builders Inc.

    With over 20 years of experience in the industry, Geoff Deacon’s interest in architecture and development led him to take the Architectural and Building Technology program at BCIT. Growing his career alongside Axiom Builders for over for 14 years, Geoff has held roles in both pre-construction and construction, eventually working his way up from project manager to director. Currently, he oversees six projects and has 15-20 direct reports at a time. His main focus is liaising with clients and ensuring that his site team is set up for success by understanding and communicating expectations effectively. A key milestone project that Geoff recently completed is Cardero, a high-end and complex project and also the very building where this event is hosted. His current projects include Kathleen rental, ROWE, and Central Park House.

    Dan Gronross

    Axiom Builders

    Dan Gronross started his career in Architecture after completing his Bachelor of Architecture, B. Arch Sci at Ryerson University. Over the years, during Dan’s time and experience working in Architecture and Consulting, he discovered his passion for Building Science, which later led him to expand and share his expertise within the construction industry. Skilled in building energy design and passive-house, Dan brings a wealth of knowledge and problem-solving skills when it comes to building envelopes, having worked for one of the largest building envelope consulting firms in Vancouver. Dan's unique background in architecture, consulting, and Building Science has given him a comprehensive understanding in construction, demonstrating a valuable perspective to the Axiom Builders team.

    Virginia Bird

    Principal , Pottinger Bird Community Relations

    A community relations professional with close to 17 years of hands-on experience, Virginia Bird has contributed to a variety of successful development approvals since joining the firm in 2006. Virginia became the Principal of Pottinger Bird in 2013 and is responsible for the management and effective execution of all client programs and projects. She is an active member of the Urban Development Institute Board of Directors and was a former Chair of the Women of UDI Committee. She also sits on the boards of the YMCA BC Foundation, the Vancouver Resource Society, and formerly, the West Vancouver Chamber of Commerce. Virginia was the recipient of the 2018 Maureen Enser Future Leader Award and recognized as one of Business in Vancouver’s Forty Under 40 in the same year.

    Andrew Tong

    With over 28 years at Concert, Andrew Tong has held many diverse roles within Sales & Marketing, Development, Acquisitions and Investments. Currently, as Chief Investment Officer, Andrew is responsible for leading the strategic planning & key operational activities of Concert’s income portfolio (office, industrial, market rental & affordable housing) across Canada valued at over $4.1 billion. These activities include acquisitions, dispositions, asset and portfolio management, term financing, residential and commercial leasing and property management. Since its inception in 2016, Andrew has been the Managing Director of Concert Income Properties LP – an open-ended fund for office, industrial and multifamily rental apartments in Canada supported by pension fund and institutional investors. Additionally, Andrew oversees Concert’s residential land acquisitions across Canada.
