    Speakers

    Lester Chow

    Vice President, Real Estate Finance, CMLS Financial

    Lester Chow handles various types of financing, including term, construction, and bridge/mezzanine financing. His clientele ranges from locally run family businesses to private investment funds to publicly traded real estate companies. Mr. Chow has 28 years of experience in commercial real estate finance. Prior to joining CMLS in 2005, Mr. Chow held a senior commercial real estate financing position at a major Canadian financial institution. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce with a major in urban land economics from the University of British Columbia.

    Henry McQueen

    Qualex-Landmark

    Henry is the Vice President, Development at Qualex-Landmark, and brings both public and private sector experience to his role, having worked with Concert Properties and the City of Toronto previously. Henry has managed over 4 million square feet of mixed-use development across Canada to date, ranging in scale from high density master planned communities to single-building mid-rise. In his role as Vice President of Development, Henry is responsible for overseeing the development project pipeline at Qualex- Landmark, assessing project feasibility, developing the strategic vision for each project, and advancing design and approvals through to construction. Henry is a Registered Professional Planner, and also serves as incoming Vice Chair of the UDI - Pacific Region’s U40 Executive Committee, Director of the Meraloma Club, and Vice-Chair of Co:Here Housing Community.

    Karen Williams

    Senior Researcher, Licensing and Consumer Services, BC Housing

    Karen joined BC Housing’s Research Centre team in 2019. Her work has positively impacted the housing sector in BC through a range of technical and social housing research projects. Karen brings a strong background in social planning, social research, project management, community development, community outreach, and non-profit management. For more than 5 years, she was the Manager of Accessibility Initiatives with the Social Planning and Research Council of BC (SPARC BC). Karen holds a Masters’ of Urban and Regional Planning Degree from Queen’s University and is a certified member of the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) and the Planning Institute of BC (PIBC). She is currently serving as Co-Chair of the South coast Planning Chapter of PIBC and as BC Housing’s representative on the Right Fit Steering Committee.

    Peter MacRae

    Merrick Architecture

    Peter is a registered architect with a keen interest in mixed-use, infill, and transit-oriented projects. Having rejoined Merrick Architecture after a 3 year hiatus to broaden his experience in public infrastructure and transportation architecture, Peter brings experience with both public and private sector client groups. In his role as Project Architect, Peter is adept at navigating design sensibilities, regulatory requirements, and client interests. Peter’s recent work crosses a variety scales and project types, from boutique heritage infill to multi-modal transportation, high-rise rental housing, and master planning.
