For our first episode, we welcome the Director of Development at Urban Capital, Taya Cook, who helped steer the very first all-female development project in Toronto, Canada. They named the development, Reina, a Spanish word for ‘Queen’. Reina today is all over the news, dubbed the most impactful project of the year and a game changer when it comes to how building teams are formed, who gets to sit at the decision-making table, and what kinds of discussions are taking place.

Taya Cook is the Director of Development at Urban Capital, a Toronto-based developer and builder. After being frustrated with an article that came out at the end of 2018, which featured the “Condo Kings” behind Toronto’s boom (as the name suggests, the list included 20 men, zero women), Taya took it upon herself to put together Canada’s first all-women designed and developed condominium project.
Reina is a complete reinvention of urban condominium living. With a wide variety of layouts, multipurpose amenities and tailored programming and activities, residents can connect, spend time together and make new friends of all ages and stages of life.
