ULI BC: MEC Head Office and Flagship Store Hard Hat Tour
Join ULI BC for a Hard Hat Tour of the MEC Head Office and new Vancouver Flagship Store in Olympic Village.
MEC’s new Head Office and Vancouver Flagship are designed under the company’s sustainability agenda, using innovative technology to minimize it’s environmental footprint. Located in False Creek Flats, the new Head Office is a LEED Platinum certified office building that is estimated to be 55% more energy efficient than a conventional building of its size. Serving some 300 MEC employees, the space is designed to encourage employee health and activity, while fostering innovation and collaboration.
MEC’s new Vancouver Flagship at 2nd & Quebec is currently under construction by Heatherbrae and set to open later this year, replacing their existing Broadway store. Developed in partnership with Beedie who has owned the site since 2007, the 60,000 SF building will include 45,000 SF of retail area over 2 floors, with a 3rd floor of MEC office, sublease and community space. The new building will be constructed to a LEED Gold standard, utilizing innovative cross-laminated timber design and construction by Structurlam.
