How are private developers taking action to reduce embodied carbon in their buildings? What are the practical issues and opportunities for taking this advanced sustainability step, while supporting the bottom line? While the pathway to lower emissions from building operation are now well-known, the tools for mainstreaming use of low-carbon building materials and construction are still being crafted.

Nonetheless, embodied carbon emissions are critical to address: they will comprise nearly half of total emissions from new construction between now and 2050, and city policies will begin to require action from real estate, driving a need for innovation. Join ULI BC and real estate developers and owners to learn how they have reduced embodied carbon in their buildings – locally, regionally, and globally - so you can apply it to your own development efforts and get ahead of the City of Vancouver’s recent policy on the topic.
