Join ULI BC for a presentation on the benefits of incorporating green building and sustainability strategies during building design and construction. Presentations by Appia and PGL will include a case study of the Leadership and Environmental Design (LEED™) strategies used at Appia’s Solo District in Burnaby, and a summary of different green building strategies and requirements that local developers and municipal and provincial governments have adopted.
The built environment has great impacts on the natural environment, human health, and the economy. Built Environment operations amount to approximately 30% of global energy consumption and 26% of global energy-related emissions.
Green buildings use processes that are environmentally responsible and resource-efficient throughout a building’s life cycle from design, construction, operations, to maintenance, and deconstruction. Green building measures lead to not only performance benefits but also economic benefits for multiple stakeholders – developers, owners, building managers and occupants.
Acknowledging the need to conserve energy and resources and reduce emissions from buildings, municipalities and the Province of BC have adopted various green building requirements and standards such as Energy Step Code, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), BOMA Best, Built Green and Green Globe.
Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the current green building and sustainability requirements, and perspectives from a local developer and sustainability consultant on the value of pursuing green building certification.
Don't miss out on this opportunity to learn from experts and join the conversation on green building and sustainability.
